Brussels Joins the Android Movement!

Brussels is the next city to join the Android Movement! Hosting their first ever DroidCon (Android Conference) on April 2, 2010 at Living Tomorrow, their aim (like all other DroidCon’s) is to gather enthusiastic android developers, fans and those in niche industries that would like to know more about, and find ways in how to integrate “anything android” into their current business models, road maps, etc ..

If you would like to attend (and I really suggest that you do) DroidCon Belgium, then please register here.

You can also follow them on twitter to get the latest updates.

And while we’re on the topic of up and coming DroidCon’s, don’t forget to register for DroidCon Berlin!
This will be the 2nd DroidCon in Berlin, (The first one and first EVER in the world, took place last November 2009 in Berlin). If you are an android developer and especially if you’re someone who wants to know more about the Android Community and what great developments are taking place, then attending a DroidCon near you is a must. Most of the success that takes place at these events, is not so much the sponsors that back up and believe in the value that these events have, but from the people that attend. People like you, who bring with them, their great ideas and innovative concepts. People that ask questions that stretch the imagination and really, it’s like-minded people that get together, collaborate and share and then that’s when magic starts to happen.

If it weren’t for the interesting people that come together to part-take in events such as DroidCon, then the Android Community and Movement would not be what it is today, an enriched culture of uber geeks that, through their diversity and idea sharing, are able to contribute to an empowered cause, that will change the world, enabling societies to another level of communication.

Take a look at this video on last year’s DroidCon in Berlin.

2010's Smartphone Landscape

I’ve been touting in pretty much this past month’s blog posts that we need not pit Android phones against iPhones. Why can’t we do both? Why do we always  need to choose teams? Why does  it always have to be a battle?

Today’s Android Twitter stream was inundated with links to an article on eMarketer, “How Alike Are Android and iPhone Users?”

Awareness of the Android mobile operating system is rising, and users have a lot in common with iPhone fans, according to research from comScore and Compete.

Bingo! It’s happening and we’re slowly seeing signs of the parallel rise of both mobile operating systems.

I for one, know quite a few Mac users that  have jumped on the Android Band Wagon and have NOT deserted their Apple products at all. They live, guilt free and have the best of both worlds. The rules are changing people and one rule is —> we don’t have to follow any rules!

Whether or not comScore‘s and Compete‘s research are accurate, the fact remains that the numbers are changing and we’ll definitely be seeing more and more research firms grinding out more data that will give us a better picture of where the two celebrity mobile operating systems fare.

The cartoon above, was originally created for an upcoming article on Mashable and was entitled “iCompromise”.

I’ve created two more updated cartoons to compliment eMarketer’s article.

#AndroidCoffeeBreak Goes Wild!

COFFEE!!!!!

What started as one desperate tweet on twitter —>

The Tweet …

.. that was picked up and replied by a few …

The Replies ….

… spawned the idea of taking photos of their realtime coffee breaks …

The Idea …

.. here’s the photo that started the ball rolling …

The Photo …

then the idea got understood by others …

Android Coffee Break is born!

@BigBlackBlock catches on too!

Then, it got really insane. People started taking photos of their realtime coffee cups with the coffee cups that were online! And so on.. and so on.

#androidcoffeebreak goes insane.

The #androidcoffeebreak continued and people kept posting their realtime coffee breaks online on twitter and sharing it with the crew.

Then oneday @kreativmonkey goes and does this …

Well. Once someone does a YouTube video of the #androidcoffeebreak the other obvious step would be to have a Facebook Group!

Android Coffee Break Group of Facebook. Of Course!

Make sure to join the Android Coffee Break Gang on Facebook.

Where will the #androidcoffeebreak go next? Perhaps, they will be meeting in their own 3D space during their online global coffee breaks.

You know, awhile ago @digitalfemme created the Twitter Cafe in Second Life with the permission of @jack of course. She and @Manupool moved their projects to an open simulator called, the Manupool Grid.

That’s it! The #androidcoffeebreak gang can now have the option of also being inworld, in 3D, at the Twitter Cafe in the Manupool Grid.

For more information on how to join the 3D Virtual AndroidCoffeeBreak Gang, please contact me, the Android PR Gal or @Manupool. The Manupool Grid is still in beta so Private Invites will be handed out accordingly.
