PTPT Demo at SXSW

Ramin and Scobleizer

We were lucky to have caught up with Dr. Ramin Assadollahi, CEO of ExB Communication Systems at this year’s SXSW. He was kind enough to sit down with us and talk about ExB’s new product, PTPT (People, Things, Places and Time). In my opinion, PTPT is the first of its kind that takes advantage of touch screen features when retrieving previous information that has been stored in various programs. Not many mobile browsers or apps have been able to truly merge application functionality with a UI design that maximizes “touch”.

The UI (User Interface) design was developed from a neuro perspective on how the brain makes use of graphics and information.

PTPT is a user interface paradigm and application framework that converges, manages and uses your digital assets productively.

PTPT was demo’d using the Samsung Galaxy Tablet and the new Motorola XOOM running Android’s Honeycomb 3.0. The video below explains it all.

Lucky Android. Lucky Student

kawaiiLS

Just a few weeks from launch, the uber cool offices of Lucky Student Inc. welcomed Android Kawaii (AK). It was really quite a privilege as well as an adventure (sorry, pics are currently under NDA’ish). As to what AK was doing there, one can only guess. Rumors have it that AK has been offered an impressive gig – to be a permanent fixture in the Lucky Student (LS) environment. When asked if this was true a “no comment” ensued.

Other speculations were floating about. The following is a compiled list of “possible reasons”:

1. Google has been sending in scouts.

2. The LS team wanted a visit from George L.

3. AK was posing as a Christmas Tree snowman ornament.

4. Android Phones had suddenly shown up. Merry Christmas!

5. Android PR Gal’s alter ego, digitalfemme was up to no good.

After some in-depth research and intense water longboarding sessions, a light of truth was finally revealed – digitalfemme has taken up cubicle space. But really, what does it all mean?

Mobile Hackathon 2010, Toronto

miwhack

The 2nd Annual Mobile Innovation Week here in Toronto kicks off with a Mobile Hackathon!

Right in the heart of Toronto’s downtown and in a corner of OCAD (Ontario College of Art & Design), three groups of mobile developers diligently work on creating apps that will be part of Toronto’s Intelligent Cities initiative (perhaps). The event is a two day affair and aims at connecting mobile developers in the Toronto and GTA.

Interesting is the discussions around community / local empowerment using social media and open data. The developers are most certainly city focused and social aware. Some of the key words brought up are #healthcare, #transportation #fixmystreet #fixmycity.

There is a small group of interested devs for Android and as I sit among them as I type. My purpose here was to locate android developers and to get a feel for what apps or projects were out there. Heading up the event was Jason Silva, Organizer. I managed to catch Jason for a little impromptu interview.
